How easy is to become a US citizen or permanent resident? As easy as bribing a US immigration agent with 200 egg rolls, apparently.

Federal prosecutors indicted US immigration agent Mai Nhu Nguyen on Wednesday on charges that the 47-year-old accepted bribes in exchange for green cards and citizenship. Prosecutors say Nguyen worked at the Santa Ana U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in California where she reviewed immigrants’ applications. On one occasion, Nguyen was bribed with and accepted 200 egg rolls from an applicant in exchange for approval of their US citizenship application.

Reportedly, the agent wasn’t just fond of egg rolls. Nguyen is also being accused of accepting $1,000 and $2,200 cash bribes from two other immigrants on separate occasions in exchange for green cards.

Nguyen has been charged with three counts of solicitation of a bribe by a public official and remains free on $20,000 bond.
