J.K. Rowling Says Hermione Should Have Been Riding Harry Potter’s Broom All Along

So, who’s it going to be? Dwarflegs Bushbrows or Greaseface Orangeflop? NO, THERE ARE NO OTHER CHOICES.

One of the oddities of the whole Harry Potter saga is that Hermione ends up with dorky ginger Ron Weasley at end instead of Harry Potter. On the one hand, it’s kind of refreshing. The most important/popular guy doesn’t always end up with the most important/popular girl — the real world ain’t the prom kids! On the other hand, she married Ron? Ecch.

Well, Rowling is doing a new interview for Wonderland, a magazine Emma Watson is guest editing, and in it she admits RonMione was probably a mistake

“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. That’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

I know, I’m sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not.”

Emma Watson took her own dump on the relationship…

“There are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy.”

Like I said, I kind of like the Ron/Hermione coupling for realism’s sake, although if Rowling was really being realistic, during that final train scene Hermione should have been all, “Oh, and this is Joe. We met six months ago on the Internet after my second divorce. Shrug.” Both Ron and Harry were waaay too deep in the friend zone.
