Jared Fogle Is ‘Lucky’ To Still Be Alive After Getting Beaten By This Inmate

Jared Fogle is packing on the pounds, and getting pounded in the face.

Yesterday, we learned that the former-Subway spokesperson, who’s serving 15 years in prison for possession of child pornography and crossing state lines to pay for sex with minors, was “beaten and bloodied” by another inmate. Steven Nigg jumped Fogle in the recreation yard, and left him with a “bloody nose, swollen face, and scratches on his neck.” It could have been worse.

“He walks the yard and he’s rubbing shoulders with people he shouldn’t be,” Nigg’s nephew, Jimmy Nigg Jr., told the Daily News. “My uncle feels like he should never be allowed to do this.”

“Jared’s lucky he’s still alive. My uncle was in a position to kill him. No one was there,” Jimmy Jr. said after speaking to his uncle. “He got him down, then walked away. He’s not a violent guy, he doesn’t have a violent history. He’s sending a message is what he’s doing. A guy walks in with all this money and celebrity and instead of flying under the radar, he’s going into the yard, walking around with big guys, saying no one can mess with me, flashing his money around and that’s what (my uncle) is pissed off about.”

Nigg, this “not violent guy,” spent 15 years in prison for armed robberies in the 1970s and “was later convicted of selling guns he inherited from his father.” But he made an exception for Fogle, and “took justice into his own hands,” according to Jimmy. He added, “The inmates joke that they need to put [Fogle] back in the Subway commercials because he’s put on weight again.”

“Cake Day” is Fogle’s only friend.
