Jennifer Lawrence Delivered A Lusty Vagina Monologue At ‘The Big Lebowski’ Live Reading

On Friday night, human chihuahua Jennifer Lawrence stepped into the well-primed shoes of Maude Lebowski in Jason Reitman’s live reading of The Big Lebowski at Montreal’s Just for Laughs festival. JLaw joined Michael Fassbender (in his bathrobe as The Dude) in this informal rendition of the Coen brothers’ beloved stoner-film classic. The two X-Men actors held their own onstage alongside Patton Oswalt as Walter and Olivia Munn as Bunny Lebowski.

The reading went off without too many hitches other than Munn accidentally stealing a few lines from Jennifer. Critics gave the reading mostly positive reviews with Variety remarking upon Fassbender as delivering “what appears to be the most laid-back performance of his career.” Fassbender enjoyed himself too much and got a little “method” while downing onstage cocktails. Were they White Russians? No one knows for sure.

The evening’s highlight, unsurprisingly, was Jennifer’s vagina monologue. She threw herself into repeated utterances of that special word with much lust. Each time JLaw dropped the V-word, the audience erupted in laughter. By the time she arrived at a staccato rendition of “a man will refer to d*ck or his rod or his Johnson,” the actors must have struggled to keep a straight face. Or so we can imagine from this darkened video of the monologue. Jennifer’s discussion of “the female form” begins around the 2:00 minute mark:

As always, JLaw delivered in sheer terms of personality. She fretted over the length of her skirt while seated in front of a live audience.

She also busied herself onstage by rolling “doobies” (which were really cigarettes) for Fassbender’s Dude character.
