Almost a month after Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly released, rap fans can’t deny Flying Lotus’ impact on the LP. However, the fact that FlyLo could’ve been the one solely conducting the show seems like a missed opportunity until you consider that, well, the album’s great regardless. In any case, last night FlyLo dropped another one of his cuts on which K. Dot appeared called “Eyes Above.”

Fans of the Los Angeles musician will notice that the instrumental appeared on FlyLo’s 2013 LP You’re Dead!, while attendees of his shows last year might even identify this exact version (he played it several times while promoting the album). The “Eyes Above” below is the CDQ version and features a clear- and venomous-sounding K. Dot rip like he did throughout TPAB. Sadly, it’s over after 68 seconds, but it remains a reminder of how good a future Flying Lotus-Kendrick Lamar project could sound.
