Kevin Garnett Hears Everything You’re Saying And He Doesn’t Give A Damn

“I take this very seriously, so you guys calling me old, that number defies, you have no idea what you are doing when you say those old comments. I appreciate that. I don’t read your column but it gets back to me.”

Pending you’re new to the program around here, yours truly has a lot riding on the 2012 NBA Playoffs. And Kevin Garnett’s Boston Celtics present themselves as a marquee reason it’s hard for me to get any sleep at night. If all goes according to plan, Garnett’s Celtics looks to square off against pro sports’ version of the nWo, the Miami Heat, in the Eastern Conference Finals. The fact of the matter is, I hate the Celtics just as much as I hate the Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles and Duke Blue Devils. But for Boston, at least, it stands as respective hatred because they’ve whooped my ass more times than not over the years dating back to Game 7 of the 2008 Eastern Conference semifinals.

Last night, Boston clinched a series victory over an Atlanta Hawks team who seemed all but poised to force a Game 7 until the Hawks realized they were from Atlanta and that city’s sports fortune speaks for itself. K.G. resembled “The Big Ticket” pouring in 28 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks and three steals in a performance that seemed to be fueled by comments from Atlanta’s co-owner Michael Gearon, Jr. who called him “the dirtiest player in the league” and his team “old.” To which, Kevin had this to say, “First off, I want to say thanks to their owner for giving me some extra gas tonight. My only advice to him is next time he opens his mouth, he actually knows what he’s talking about, X’s and O’s versus checkbooks and bottom lines.”

It’s how K.G. has been his entire career and the reason why I’m assuming the city of Beantown adores the guy so much. He loves the city, he loves his teammates, and moreso, he loves the game he plays. Age be damned, I know more than any non-Boston fanatic this team will be hell to eliminate. Philadelphia’s got their hands full and pending Miami does advance past Indiana, I’ll be a nervous wreck come the East Finals. And for Kevin Garnett, I appreciate what I’m seeing because this could very well be the last season he suits up. He’s a living legend regardless of how the pie is sliced.

I’m just pissed I missed an awesome Kerry Washington sex scene on Scandal to watch Boston win last night.
