Kentucky’s infamous county clerk, Kim Davis, has been ordered to jail for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses. Not surprisingly, the internet has reacted. #KimDavis is currently trending on Twitter, with some of the more notable reactions under the hashtag below.

Here are some tweets that support Davis’s jailing. They range from funny pop culture references about the clerk’s predicament, to earnest arguments about why her stance is wrong:

There are also tweets supporting Davis. The supporters include Republican presidential hopefuls Carly Fiorina and Mike Huckabee, whose statements make varying degrees of sense:

For context, Lois Lerner was an IRS official who targeted Tea Party officials for audits related to their applications for tax exempt status.

There’s also the #freekim hashtag, which has considerably less traction at the moment:

If #freekim seems familiar, it might be because the hashtag was used a couple of days ago in conjunction with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s Kim Richards recent run-ins with the law:

After Davis was jailed, five of her six deputy clerks agreed to begin issuing marriage licenses again. The lone dissenter is her son.
