KLUB Monsta - altar call

Religion makes for such a polarizing topic of discussion and one I attempt to avoid publicly at all costs for the most part. Joshua, J. Dotta and Kel Ricks – collectively known as K.L.U.B. Monsta – tackle the subject head on calling to question the motives behind some entrusted to spread its messages and teachings.

Found on the group’s DJ Wally Sparks-hosted Canvas, “Altar Call” benefits from a church-like backdrop and three equally heartfelt, passionate and occasionally explicit verses from the Birmingham trio. The crazy thing is, they’ve been on that same tip for awhile now, albeit steadily improving over time. But hopefully – noted a few weeks ago when speaking on Meek Mill’s philanthropic efforts – K.L.U.B.’s music isn’t falling on deaf ears. Music with a message still exists.

We – yes, we, as in the culture as a whole – need work on conditioning ourselves to fall back on being so trigger happy tossing negative remarks about how this era isn’t like the one in its rearview. Ricks, Dotta and Josh are living proof not everyone’s out to make a quick buck off a dance or selling singles (not totally dismissible in its own right). Supporting starts with a mouse click.
