This Lowe’s Driver Was Barred From Making A Delivery To A Racist Customer

As if you needed one, here is yet another reminder that racism is alive and kicking. Marcus Bradley has been a faithful employee of a Danville, Va. Lowe’s for 11 years, which made what happened last Monday perhaps even more heinous. While on his way to make a delivery, Bradley received a call from his boss asking him to bring the delivery back to the store.

When he asked why, he was told that the woman he was making the delivery to had called and demanded they they not send a black driver.

Virginia’s ABC 13 interviewed Bradley and his coworker about the incident:

Bradley says he was told the customer specifically asked Lowe’s not to send a black delivery person.  Alex Brooks says he’s worked with Bradley for nearly 11 years and that he was with him in the truck when the call came in.

“To me, it just ain’t right for a business that we work at to go on with the woman’s wishes,” said Brooks. “It was one of those things like, ‘These guys will get over it.  They’re tough guys, they’re delivery guys and that’s kind of where I just had to put my foot down and say I couldn’t do it with them,” said Brooks.

ABC 13 was also able to track the customer down, who answered her door and was unapologetic for being a giant disgusting racist, saying: “No, I don’t feel bad about nothing.”

For their part, Lowe’s corporate made a statement saying that under no circumstances should a discriminatory delivery request have been honored, and that the manager who authorized the request has since been terminated.
