This Man Documented His Lonely Bachelor Party After Everyone Else’s Flights Got Canceled

The weeks and months leading up to a wedding are always going to be stressful times for a bride and groom. However, for the couple’s friends who don’t have any plans to make, DJs to hire, seating charts to arrange, or family members to appease, those times are usually the most fun.

Of course, one of the ways in making sure fun times are had is to plan a final send-off for the pending married couple in the form of the time-honored tradition of a bachelor or bachelorette party. One group of friends did just that, and planned an out-of-town bachelor party ahead of the long Labor Day weekend. The only problem? Everyone’s flights got canceled, except for one guy.

Meet Robert Chernow. The sad-faced 28-year-old took to Instagram to document the epic sendoff he made for one of his pals in the great city of Chicago, albeit, completely solo.

Here he is in the beginning of the trip, or as we’ll learn later, his happier times. He’s about to enter Soldier Field for the Bears final preseason game, which is actually a pretty awesome activity to plan for a bachelor party. Well, except for that whole “being the fourth preseason game” thing. But still, football!

Oh, no. Is this the section where all of his friends were supposed to be? I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to get sad.

Hey, what do you know? Things are looking up and he’s found some friends. Of course, those “friends” were merely workers on the Soldier Field concourse trying to get him to sign up for a credit card. But sometimes you have to look at the bright side of things.

Being from the Chicago area myself, I cannot recommend Portillo’s enough. Everything on the menu is outstanding. Of course, if you have the means, I would also recommend bringing a friend. Portillo’s needs to be enjoyed in a group setting if possible. Sorry, Rob.

Our lonely bachelor captioned this pic with “Time to stop stressing over my friends not making it here by treating myself to a personal spa day.” And, because I cannot caption it any better myself, we’ll just go with that. Or, as Uproxx’s own Josh Kurp said, “That’s sadder than a frozen hot dog thawing in a sink.”

If fog rolling in during his tour of a high-rise building that was so thick he couldn’t see any of the city isn’t the perfect metaphor for Rob’s entire trip, then I’m not sure what is.

Oh, thank goodness, a green screen. That’s not a bad alternative to the real thing, in my opinion.

Good work, Rob, in providing a terrific timeline of your wonderful trip. If I could offer one tip, however, it’s to suggest to the bride and groom that they include your slideshow at the reception. You’ll be a hit, and there’s worse things to be than a hit at a wedding reception.
