We all know Mariah Carey is an elusive chanteuse, but she’s also the master of the Frito Pie! Her residency at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace began Wednesday, and her new album, #1 to Infinity comes out May 16. It features all 18 of her No. 1 songs, plus a new single, fittingly entitled “Infinity,” which was released on April 27.
So, when you are one of the most successful recording artists in American history, what do you do when there are no more worlds to conquer? Well, you do a Funny Or Die video called “Cooking with Mariah Carey,” of course. Alongside Bryan Safi from the Throwing Shade podcast, Carey shows us her recipe for Frito Pie, which involved an unusually high amount of M&M’s and other odd ingredients. While it is all very silly, it doesn’t feel implausible that a woman who has had as much success and celebrity as Carey would envision this as a valid method of cooking.
But wait, there’s more. Stopping by to taste test Carey’s delicious dish is beloved sleazeball Brett Ratner. Ratner directed the video for Carey’s “Infinity,” which is presumably the justification for him stopping by to cram some pie in his piehole. It’s a good look for him. A Brett Ratner who is too full of garbage food to talk is a Brett Ratner we can all get behind.
The only shame is that Carey will likely be too busy performing for sellout audiences in Las Vegas to share any more recipes. So savor this while you can. Savor it like Brett Ratner savored that Frito Pie.
