Matt Barkley doesn’t take too kindly to reporters impugning his arm strength. The Eagles third-string quarterback took to Reddit to fire back at a post by Jimmy Kempski of saying that Barkley’s arm strength is a major concern and that the quarterback may struggle to stay in the NFL unless it improves.

Shut up Jimmy, you don’t know a thing about that route, the defensive coverage, technique of the wide receiver, the route he was actually running, let alone my maximum velocity arm strength,” Barkley wrote. “We can play catch sometime if you want to figure out for yourself how hard I can throw it, just lemme know.”

While drawing conclusions about arm strength based on one throw isn’t the most responsible thing to do, Kempski is hardly the only writer making that criticism of Barkley. So what does the quarterback do? Challenge the writer to throw the ball around to see who has the real cannon. Apparently if you can best a non-athlete in a skills showdown, you definitely deserve a spot on an NFL roster. To Kempski’s credit, he accepted the challenge, though no time or date has been set for what’s sure to the most intense game of catch since Jim Harbaugh’s last toss-around.

As our Trevor Risk points out, Matt Barkley belongs in the Pete Holmes “Hey, YOU make a movie” bit.
