MC Eiht – “So Well”

Something about having DJ Premier attached to an artist’s project automatically boosts it’s credibility tenfold. Getting the presence of his handle next to the title “Executive Producer” on an album is probably something that is on nearly every MC’s bucket list.

Foreshadowed by his appearance on the remix of Blaq Poet’s single “Ain’t Nuttin’ Changed” alongside fellow west-coaster Young Maylay, it looks as if Compton veteran MC Eiht achieved just that. His upcoming album Which Way Is West is being released on Premier’s Year Round Records and its first single “So Well” is smoother than the OG Epic Beard Man’s dance moves. With a familiar sample set to a pulsating beat that takes your mind for a ride around in a drop top Cadillac on a sunny day in CA with the Pacific Coast legend’s vocals riding shotgun calmly over the beat like it was ’93, the lead single leaves this blogger anxious to hear the rest of the project, with or without the Chris Martin co-sign.
