Surprise proposals often end in happy tears, especially if a gentleman plans according to special moments in a relationship’s history. Plenty of success stories involve rings tucked inside pieces of cheesecake or dropped inside a glass of champagne. But there’s nothing special about sticking an engagement ring inside a McChicken sandwich bun.
This hapless fellow executed the most cringeworthy surprise proposal ever recorded on dash cam. He chose to recruit a McDonald’s drive-thru crew as a romantic gesture. She discovered the ring while checking for mayonnaise. Her reaction? “This is a joke.” The rejected one summarized his thought process on YouTube:
“I met my girlfriend 2 years ago in LA. I’ve never been good at planning in advance which is why we wound up ending our first date at this exact McDonalds. She joked for months about how 10 years down the road I would probably propose to her in a chicken nugget box so I thought she would love when I surprised her this way. She didn’t love it like the way I thought she would. We agreed to wait longer until it’s time to get engaged.”
The couple hasn’t broken up, but it’s coming.
What’s even sadder (than a botched proposal) is how this dude ran the plan by his lady’s father. Dad OK’d it! Methinks Dad knew what would happen, and Joseph got played.
