This Is Supposedly What A McDonald’s Happy Meal Looks Like Six Years Later

Sometimes McDonald’s feels like an unstoppable machine. Despite having cheese sticks without cheese and kale salads that aren’t healthy, hungry customers still flock to it because the place is consistent, cheap, and the french fries are magical. However, every once in a while (pretty damn often, actually), we have to face up to the fact that whatever McDonald’s is selling barely qualifies as food.

Alaska resident Jennifer Lovedahl decided to test out the idea that McDonald’s food never decomposes due to all of the chemicals and additives, so she set aside a Happy Meal in 2010 and let nature take its course. Well, the nuggets and fries proved to be quite resistant to the slow march of time. They were a bit dried out, sure, but no major changes had occurred over the course of six years. According to Lovedahl, owner of Balanced Health Chiropractic:

“It’s been sitting at our office this whole time and has not rotted, molded, or decomposed at all!!! It smells only of cardboard.”

Gross. While there is sure to be speculation that this is a hoax (because someone would definitely hold onto an Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeaquel box to get a taste of internet fame), it only reinforces what we all know deep down inside: McDonald’s will always be terrible for you. Try some vegetables.
