A visitor at the Uluwatu Temple in Bali set his GoPro camera down to capture footage of himself feeding some monkeys. Big mistake. It didn’t take long for one of the primates to steal his camera and run away to hilariously shoot footage of himself.
According to the YouTube description, the monkey was able to open the GoPro case and remove the battery before a lady working at the temple made a “deal” with him, trading some fruit to get the camera back. The battery was never recovered.
(On the accountability-shedding bright side, perhaps this means humanity isn’t to blame for the ongoing selfie scourge — maybe the propensity to always be shooting pictures of our own faces is some next-level Outbreak-style virus we caught from monkeys via cross-species transmission?)
