NBA Lockout Report: The “Lockout League” Comes To Las Vegas

Negotiations between player representatives and NBA owners seem to be going nowhere fast. However, a basketball season featuring pro athletes is still far from a sure thing. To make sure that fans can still get their basketball fix, longtime trainer Joe Abunassar created the Impact Basketball Training Competitive Series, a six-to-eight team league based in Las Vegas that will feature past and present NBA players. More than forty players have already signed up, including stars like John Wall, Chauncey Billups, Zach Randolph, Mo Williams, and Stephen Jackson.

This is pretty cool, if I do say so myself. Apparently, all the games are going to be streamed online and NBA teammates are going to be put on the same teams, so they can build a little chemistry and provide some continuity for the fans. So, thanks to Abunassar, I’ll get to see Iman Shumpert, the Knicks first-round pick, suit up with Chauncey and Shawne Williams a bit early. That’s way, way better than the glimpses I’ve gotten of the man showing off his hops and doing his best Justin Bieber this summer.
