New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Online Modes and Map Battles (video)

I just felt like three McRibs was the only way to accurately reflect my excitement.

Next Tuesday isn’t far away, but try telling that to my impatient 12-year-old outlook on life. Sure there’s only several days until I get to hop online with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but I want a Golden Goose now! Well, I guess I’ll just have to make do with this latest info from PC Gamer, giving us a brief glance at brand new maps and online modes, while at the same time contemplating, “Is this better than Battlefield 3?”

The first new online mode is Kill Confirmed: a team deathmatch-esque battle mode where each player must snatch up dog tags from dead soldiers, in order to score points. You’ll receive XP for kills, but the team score will only be affected by how many dog tags you manage to steal off corpses. This includes your own team; if you pick up a fallen comrades dog tag, it will prevent the opposition from scoring those points. *double snap*

Team Defender is also new. It’s basically a capture the flag scenario, but instead of carrying the competitions flag to a designated safe zone, you merely try to hang on and defend the flag for as long as you possibly can. The longer a team can bogart the flag the more points they’ll earn. See? Selfishness really does pay off.

Modern Warfare 3 will also feature custom user-generated modes, allowing players to set up the parameters of a match and then save or upload those for later use. You can turn off radars, get rid of killstreaks, etc. – whatever your sick little heart desires (or doesn’t).
