Justin Bieber – “Die In Your Arms”

The latest single from The Biebs is classic pop. Or, better yet, classy pop. Built on Darkchild’s simple piano progressions, light-hearted bass and some good ol’ finger snaps, the track almost sounds like something The Funk Brothers would’ve pumped out of West Grand. Yet, despite the throwback, innocent vibes derived from Justin’s latest hit, most folks over the legal drinking age will unnecessarily downplay the track. It doesn’t matter that Mayer Hawthorne could release the same exact song next week and most would approve. Or, that if someone accidentally snuck it into rotation on an old soul station, you’d probably nod along and wonder who was singing the slick falsetto. Nope, this will be disregarded simply because knocking Usher’s protege is the cool thing to do.

Well, I’ll tell you what. Until this gets the radio rape treatment, I’m gonna download this and jam out without apprehension. Then, watch as it goes down as a song generations from now look back on and say ‘the music used to be so much better back in the day.’
