Geek Tyrant found the new international trailer for Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel Prometheus (U.S. trailer here, synopsis and pictures here). It opens June 8th, 2012, and I’m not going to lie: I’m psyched about Scott returning to sci-fi and about the competent cinematography in the scenes we’ve seen so far. Between Transformers, Battleship, Hancock, etc. I was starting to forget it was possible to make a sci-fi action film without swooping the camera around and overlaying compressed mechanical hisses and clicks everywhere to substitute overstimulation for actual tension and character development. Save us, Ridley Scott. Or at least don’t ruin Alien for us. We have very, very low expectations.
