New York Is The Site of MORTAL KOMBAT!

Most video game-based movies are terrible, not least because most video games don’t exactly have cinematic stories. Case in point: “Super Mario Brothers”.

“Mortal Kombat” avoided this fate, mostly because Paul W.S. Anderson, who never has gotten his due as an entertainingly crap filmmaker, was smart enough to treat the plot as goofy without thinking he could condescend to the part of the audience who took the plot deadly, deadly serious. And you know exactly who you are.

Anyway, it also gave unto us one of the early 1990s great techno hits, resulting in decades of stupid dancing. Some of it in costumes. Here’s some of the best.
