The Details: Nike Zoom Kobe VII “Invisibility Cloak”

February isn’t over just yet but this month will definitely go down as one of the biggest, most expensive months in footwear history. The “Galaxy” Pack (and accompanying fiasco), the Deions, Juiceboxes, Year of The Dragon releases, the relaunch of the AM2009s and the usual round of Jordan retros created a long list of kicks that every head wanted to get their hands on. The best of them all? The Zoom Kobe VII “Invisibility Cloaks,” named as a nod to Harry Potter’s magical garment. The “Cloaks” were slept-on due in equal parts perhaps to their limited release and many buyers scrambling to secure other shoes.

The box casually lists the colorway simply as Black/Court Purple-Turquoise Blue. But seeing them changes things totally as the sneakers take on an iridescent look and the colors flip-flop from black to purple or green depending on the amount of and direction of light they’re exposed to. The “Cloaks” may not have been given top billing due to all of the other drops but they’re definitely one of February’s (and maybe 2012’s) most interesting pairs.

One more February release (oh, Beckham Torsion Flex in size 13, where art thou?) and I’m done. The month of March will be all about recovery.

Thanks to the homie for the assist.
