Well that was fast. Just a couple of days ago we learned that there were rumors that the Mariah Carey-Nick Cannon divorce was impending, and now Nick Cannon has pretty much confirmed the rumors, via Yahoo!’s The Insider, which was the saddest possible Nick Cannon way of doing so.
“There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months,” The “America’s Got Talent” host said. The 33-year-old did, however, quash the rumor that the problems in his marriage are due to infidelity.
“My main focus is my kids,” Cannon told The Insider.
TMZ is also reporting that the divorce is being drawn out by lawyers as we speak, which involved a one-sided confidentiality agreement. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions as to which side that might be.
Nick is barred from saying anything about the split. If he does, there are severe financial penalties. But Mariah has the right under the agreement to announce the split on her terms.
Nick is allowed to say they’re now living separately … which he’s already done. But he cannot say anything about the divorce.
I have to admit, this is kind of a bummer. As much fun as it’s been speculating about their possible impending divorce over the past six months or so, them actually getting divorced puts an end to the game. Of course everyone knows the real beginning of the end was back when Nick bragged about having sex with Kim Kardashian, so I guess this is just another thing we can blame Kim Kardashian for. Add it to the pile.
