Sensory overload. Must. Not. Sh*t. Pants.
It’s at times like this that I feel really confident in my inability to play musical instruments very well. As a child, I tried explaining to my parents that issuing mandatory piano lessons, at gunpoint, didn’t exactly ensure them a world class caliber musician, as their offspring -and with guys like Diwa de Leon strutting about, I have no idea how my family ever expected me to compete in the first place.
Diwa de Leon is a stud musician/composer from the Philippines and when he’s not busy collaborating on projects, apparently he’s hard at work teaching himself how to play all of the theme music from Super Mario Galaxy for the Nintendo Wii. Originally composed by Mahito Yokota and Koji Kondo, in the video that follows, Diwa proves that friends are irrelevant, so long as you are your own one-man band.
After the jump, check out Diwa de Leon’s cover of five songs from the game, utilizing such instruments as the violin, tambourine, hegalong and
action figures guitar. And if my mother or father is reading this, I’d just like to say that, regarding the piano lessons, I was right all along -oh, who am I kidding, my parents don’t read this stuff.
Special thanks to Technabob for the tip.
