Idris Elba Continues Being Badass In First ‘Pacific Rim’ Clip And 20 New Pictures

The first clip from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim aired on the Tonight Show. It features Idris Elba as Stacker Pentecost getting in Charlie Hunnam’s face. “You have no idea who the hell I am or where I’ve come from,” he says. Well, yeah. That’s because he’s Heimdal from Asgard. How would Charlie Hunnam know that?

Not based on any preexisting property and a cast devoid of household names, the Guillermo del Toro-helmed tentpole is an expensive gamble that Warner Bros. is hoping pays off. And right now, the signs aren’t good with Variety reporting that tracking right now is “disappointing,” and indicating that “Grown Ups 2” will beat it on opening weekend. [The Playlist]

As Vince pointed out recently, tracking can prove inaccurate. At least that’s what I’m telling myself because the thought of Grown Ups 2 beating Pacific Rim makes me want to punch a hellmonster from the briny deep. Also, there’s a Grown Ups 2? Ugh. Those monsters can’t get here fast enough.

We also have 20 more pictures from Pacific Rim after the video below. I don’t recognize most of these people and it doesn’t matter because robot/monster fights.
