Via Deadspin comes the story of Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and his meeting last spring with retired U.S. general and Seattle native Peter Chiarelli, who was wrapping up his run as the Army’s vice chief of staff. According to the ‘spin, the two rapped about everything that you’d expect between a longtime 12th Man and the coach of the team, and I’m willing to bet they even talked about how adorable Russell Wilson is. “Have ya cuddled this kid,” Chiarelli would ask. “You bet,” Carroll would respond.
But the two men weren’t alone for this meeting, as they were joined by former 49ers and Rams linebacker Riki Ellison, who was responsible for the two meeting. According to Ellison, things were fine and dandy between the two until Chiarelli mentioned Iraq and Carroll asked if 9/11 was an inside job.
In particular, Carroll wanted to know whether the attack on the Pentagon had really happened. Chiarelli—who was the top-ranking Army official inside the Pentagon when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into its western side—explained that it had. He said he had lost many colleagues. But Carroll didn’t stop there. He ran through the whole 9/11 truther litany.
“Every 9/11 conspiracy theory you can think of, Pete asked about,” said Riki Ellison, the former NFL linebacker who now runs the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance and introduced Carroll to Chiarelli. Ellison, along with Seahawks offensive line coach Pat Ruel, was at the meeting as well. “And he didn’t stop at 9/11—he had lots of questions about the role of the military today.”
Reports differ as to whether the meeting was friendly or heated, but what I want to know is why this meeting, that allegedly took place last spring, is just being reported on now. Why has this been kept a secret from the public for so long? Who had the most to gain from this story not being reported until now and who was set to profit from this story never seeing the light of day?
And what about my theory that Pete Carroll is actually Bea Arthur?
Think about it – Have you ever seen Pete Carroll and Bea Arthur in the same place at the same time? Did Bea Arthur really die or did she finally decide to stop acting and focus on football? The tits don’t lie, people.
The tits don’t lie.
