Pete Davidson Reacts On Twitter To Steve Rannazzisi’s Fabricated 9/11 Story

When news of The League‘s Steve Rannazzisi’s unfortunate false recounting of the series of events he experienced on the morning of 9/11 were made public Wednesday morning, my thoughts for some reason immediately went to SNL‘s Pete Davidson. I guess I shouldn’t say “for some reason” because, at this point, it’s a pretty widely known fact that Davidson lost his father, a firefighter responding to the tragedy, on 9/11. Davidson has dealt with the subject fairly extensively with his comedy, most recently tweeting a funny remembrance to his dad on the anniversary of 9/11.

Davidson does not shy away from the sensitive subject, so it didn’t take long for him to comment Rannazzisi’s indiscretion. Just before 10 a.m., Davidson lobbed this zinger Rannazzisi’s way on Twitter:

That would probably have been the end of it, except that somehow Steve Rannazzisi does not seem to be aware of Pete Davidson’s history, and tweeted back at him thanking him for his support. (Which was quickly removed.)

For what it’s worth, I think that’s the consensus among a lot of people. Steve Rannazzisi is a talented comedian, and it seems like a shame to have this white lie potentially ruin the guy’s entire career… even if it was a really, really big little white lie.
