Quentin Tarantino To Wash Hands Of ‘The Hateful Eight’ Script Altogether?

So, in case you’ve been trapped in a dome along with Dean Norris for the past 24 hours, you may have missed the biggest story to hit Hollywood in at least 2…3…days.

As we posted earlier on Filmdrunk, Quentin Tarantino is very upset at the source of a leaked first-draft of his newest Western The Hateful Eight. Much like my Chlamydia in College, he gave it to six people and one of those six spread it. Word has it that he’s narrowed the culprits down to two people: actors  Michael Madsen and Bruce Dern, who were being considered for roles in the film.

In the latest news according to Flavorwire, Tarantino is ready to just wash his hands of the whole thing:

Tarantino has resigned himself to moving onto another project. In lieu of starting pre-production on the film, he’s now meeting with publishing companies to make the script legally available and, it seems, to get the ill-fated thing off his hands.

Oh God, does this mean it’ll be up for grabs? I can just picture Vince’s boner if Shane Black directed a Tarantino script. I don’t mean I can picture it…I just mean I can…you know. OK, moving on.

Now, I’m not a big city lawyer but if you asked me who is more trust-worthy between Bruce Dern and Michael Madsen, I don’t think it would take a long time to figure it out. Bruce Dern is a 77 year old respected actor whose latest film, the awesome Nebraska, is winning all kinds of awards. If he is the leak, he probably left it at a Denny’s or something by mistake. On the other hand, Michael Madsen is…well, Michael Madsen. He’s been arrested for driving drunk, child endangerment, amid other things. Let’s just say his decision making process is not too sound.

Either way, if this means that we don’t get a follow-up to Django Unchained, that will be a tragedy up there along with the first 30 minutes of Deathproof (yeah I said it).
