Do Rap Stars Make Good A&Rs?

When it comes down it, networking plays a huge part of determining whether or not Rapper A is able to collaborate with Rapper B on a given record. Usually emcees like to stay within their crews or their label, but when venturing outside of the box, it’s the A&R’s role to connect them to land the the sought-after features. And sometimes artists like Jay-Z and DJ Khaled can wear multiple hats, serving as the A&R for other rappers’ projects in addition to crafting their own albums.
