Ravens-Lions Live Blog, Second Half

extended by a personal foul on Matt Elam hitting Matt Stafford going to the ground on a third down scramble. It was a close call and surely Ravens fans will complain but it looked like Stafford committed to the slide before Elam committed to the hit. A few plays later, Reggie Bush broke one outside past Terrell Suggs into the end zone.

Ravens did little with their opening drive, so it looked as though the Lions could take a big early lead, but Megatron had a huge wide open drop on a 3rd and 15 right at the first down marker. Had he made the catch, it would have at least got Detroit into field goal range. The Ravens respond by putting their first decent drive together but it ends with Flacco throwing the ball away on third down in the red zone and Baltimore was forced to settle for a 29-yard field goal.

Detroit had another third down near midfield, but Stafford had Calvin open in the flat but threw it at his feet. The following Ravens drive was set up in field goal range when the Lions drew a ridiculous PI flag when Flacco went deep for Marlon Brown. Again, Baltimore settled for a field goal to cut the Detroit lead to one.

The Lions regained possession with just over two minutes but it was the same story since their first possession: a Calvin Johnson drop near midfield on third down. It was his ninth on the season to set a new career high and suddenly everyone says more safeties should kind of talk shit to Megatron. Either way, the Ravens got the ball back, got another penalty on the Lions second and kicked another field goal.

This game has settled into quite the routine going into half.
