As was reported at the end of the week, Robert Kirkman shared a bit with Rolling Stone about being disappointed in George R.R. Martin for the way he’s handled his story with the HBO adaptation for Game of Thrones. The idea of giving away plot points and twists to have them spoiled on TV didn’t sit well with The Walking Dead creator, so he sorta gave his point of view on it.

Now it wasn’t a serious quote and there certainly wasn’t some major rivalry between the two, merely one creator saying he would’ve done something differently. Still, Kirkman decided to clarify the mini-kerfuffle on Twitter and give Martin plenty of praise:

All of that was clearly typed at knife point, right? Possibly by a naked assassin sent by George R.R. Martin. You don’t bad mouth the Thrones, Kirkman.

Anyway, it likely didn’t need that sort of clarification, but it’s still nice that he took notice. As one commenter pointed out, George R.R. Martin likely doesn’t care what anybody thinks at this point and would’ve just taken it in stride if there was any offense taken. Either that or he would’ve murdered at least six more beloved characters and their pets in order to make himself feel better. Poor Ser Pounce would’ve been turned into fish bait.
