Someone get the magazine industry a new coat, because Russell Brand has pushed ALL their buttons. This past Tuesday was the annual GQ Men of the Year Awards, and the English comedian was there to promote Hip to the Hop 2. He also received the Oracle Award, but instead of simply slurring unintelligible thank yous to Katy Perry’s vagina for five minutes, Brand used his time to discuss Hugo Boss, Nazis, and GQ, a.k.a. Genocide Quips.
The British comedian was thrown out of Tuesday’s after-party for the GQ Men of the Year Awards after making comments linking Hugo Boss, the event’s sponsor, to the Nazis during World War II.
“If anyone knows a bit about history and fashion, you know it was Hugo Boss who made uniforms for the Nazis…But they looked f*cking fantastic, let’s face it, while they were killing people on the basis of their religion and sexuality,” Brand [said] onstage.
Afterward, Brand was kicked out of the party by GQ‘s editor, Dylan Jones. (Via)
Brand then tweeted:

See Russell Brand and Kevin James in Nazi Tailor, coming 2015 to theaters near you.

I should have enough compelling reasons to hate Russell Brand, his douche looks and him having had sex with Katy Perry notwithstanding.
But I can’t, though I despise his movies he somehow still manages to come across as a charming Brit and quite a well-spoken one during interviews, such as when he turned the tables on those morning show hosts who were being condescending towards him.
Regarding what he said, purely from a fashion stand point, those Nazi uniforms were boss.
Ok, I’ll now show myself out.
He also seems very polite when treated well. Very gracious and kind, and seems genuinely empathetic and engaging. The kind of person who asks about your family, and how they’re doing. You don’t see it as much in interviews with him anymore, but it’s always nice when you see that in a celebrity, and not BEEP BOOP HUMAN IMPRESSION ANECDOTE THE COMMON MAN WILL RELATE TO BEEP BOOP.
Why do people need to judge him by his looks so often? It makes no sense to me. Yeah, he’s done his fair share of shitty movies, but he’s clearly an intelligent man and his stand up is actually pretty good. He has always seemed like a nice guy and he’s been seen doing many nice things for people. To hate him is irrational.
His twitter response is enough to make me be a fan of his for life. Say what you want about the man, he doesn’t take shit. And like Ryan said above me look what he did to that morning show. They thought he was just not very intelligent at all and he made them look foolish. Bravo sir.
If we are going to start calling out people and companies that profited from evil regimes, Hugo Boss is just a drop in the bucket.
Elaborate plz. I’m seriously interested in this
There’s this for starters: [en.wikipedia.org]
and this: [www.nydailynews.com]
and this: [www.11points.com]
For starters
A few more examples:
New York Life and Aetna sold life insurance to slave owners for their slaves
Brooks Brothers got their start by selling cheap slave clothes to plantation owners.
Brooks Brothers sold clothes to plantation owners?!?!?! GASP!
Big Dairy made milk that was ingested by slave owners and slaves!
Brooks Brothers profiting off of slavery is directly on point.
I’m more a fan of calling attention to something awkward at an inopportune time.
It truly is one of my favorite things, seeing tear down people like that.
Wow… that was better than I expected.
As much as I love offensive comedy, Russell Brand should be ejected into fucking outer space. If you need someone to man the airlock, call me!
We have to do some maintenance on it first. Can you do me a favor and step inside the airlock? Need to make sure there’s enough room in there for a person. The door may shut, but don’t worry, we’re just testing it.
Loved it.
