San Francisco is making its final push to host Super Bowl L in 2016. The coup de grâce in this effort by the host committee was apparently mailing auto-playing iPads to all the owners in the NFL.

The Bay Area’s final bid to host the 50th Super Bowl in 2016 at the 49ers’ new Santa Clara stadium landed on the desk of the NFL’s 32 owners Wednesday

Wait, did they really send one to Jed York, too? Seems a touch excessive.

packaged in one of Silicon Valley’s most celebrated inventions: an iPad.

When league owners open the sleek, white box, a magnetic sensor launches a pre-loaded video on their brand-new tablet: “We’re excited to show you what the Bay Area has to offer,” San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee says on the screen.

What’s funny about this is you know that there’s no way owners open their own mail, so this presentation most likely played for a bunch of underlings.

All in all, though, not a bad stunt. Still, if you want to impress me with your region’s technological prowess, you need your new stadium to get rumble seat technology like Atlanta might be getting.
