Take A Somber Look At The Future Of The ‘Scooby Doo’ Gang Thanks To The Magic Of Twitter

Nothing good from your childhood can last forever, and the latest example of a beloved cartoon getting a dark reimagining is Scooby Doo and the Scooby Gang. This time it’s not a movie reboot or a new spin on the crew for a cartoon series, but a series of tweets that posit what the gang is up to these days. It is a semi-depressing look at how Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma are spending their time years after Scooby died and their adventures ended. Instead of remaining one big happy family, things apparently went to a really dark place, at least in the mind of author Susan Jane Bigelow. A recent string of tweets imagines Fred as a Donald Trump campaign lackey, Shaggy in rehab, and a surprise outcome for the Daphne-Velma duo.

Bigelow even accounts for why the gang never got another dog after Scooby passed away in 1980, and it’s pretty in-line with why other dog owners wait to get one too. After a beloved dog passes away, any normal person would be reticent to replace them immediately. 35 years is a long time to go without Shaggy or Scooby though, so thankfully this fan fiction story ends on a hopeful note as Daphne and Velma consider stopping to get a rescue puppy to love, adore, and maybe even use to solve some mysteries.

Head over to Sarah Jane’s Twitter feed for the full story and feel free to insert your own happy ending for the foursome if you can’t handle the thought of Fred schilling for Trump even for a minute. Still, likely better than the future The Venture Bros. cooked up for them:
