You May Want To Start Using Cash After A Starbucks Cashier Admitted To Stealing Credit Card Information

Carrying cash can be a bit of a hassle if you failed fourth grade math or are just prone to reckless spending. Another downside is cash doesn’t have the rewards, points, or miles insensitive that plastic has, which makes choosing charge over greenbacks easier for some. Unfortunately, using a card means you’re also open to dishonest cashiers stealing your information and going nuts on your dime. That’s exactly what happened to a California woman when she ordered from Starbucks recently.

Juana Martinez had no idea 19-year-old Starbucks cashier Elizabeth Becerra was going to treat her debit account as her personal Black card when she visited the coffee house on New Year’s Day, but the cashier did.

According to the Daily Mail, Becerra copied Martinez’s credit card information and went grocery shopping to the tune of $212. Martinez got Becerra to admit her crime when she rolled through the coffee house’s drive-thru with her brother filming, and confronted the teen with threats of police involvement.

As they approached the drive-thru window, the cashier greets Martinez and hands her the order and her credit card. She said: ‘So we got you on camera yesterday at Ralph’s for $212, so just know that the cops are coming up here. ‘They recorded your *ss and everything. You took a copy of my f**king card the other day on New Year’s Day. You know what you did.’The cashier was shocked and immediately apologized, but she insisted that she admit what she had done. ‘So what are you sorry about? That you took f**king money from me and my kids? What are you sorry about?’ The cashier responded: ‘I’m sorry that I took money from you and your kids. I’m sorry that you had to come up here. I’m sorry that this is inconvenient for you.

Becerra pleaded for Martinez not to call the police and claimed she wasn’t the unscrupulous cashier she appeared to be, explaining, “I am a good child. I swear I am really good. I really do go to school. I’m 19. I play soccer.” However, Starbucks thought otherwise and have since fired the cashier, telling Daily Mail, “This experience is completely unacceptable, but is by no means indicative of the otherwise outstanding customer service that we provide our customers daily.” Good. Nobody should be robbed because they couldn’t resist a grande venti whatever-the-hell.
