When Stephen Colbert announced his Desolation of Smaug cameo on Letterman a couple of weeks ago I was so curious as to whether there was any truth behind it or not I bought a ticket to the non-3D version of the second film in what should not be a trilogy in order to see for myself. My Tuesday night plans were pretty bleak.
So when America’s greatest patriot and Catholic popped on screen for a split second looking like a vagabond I felt simultaneously rewarded and disappointed. I doubt everyone is as astute or prepared as an observer as me, so here’s a video still that just hit the web to confirm the Tolkien’s biggest fan’s presence in a theatrical representation.
