People Are Ridiculing This Terrifying Texas State University Sorority Recruitment Video

It’s that time of the year again! Ah yes, the most wonderful time of the year, indeed, when young women across the country get ready to take part in the time-honored tradition of rushing sororities. But in order to decide which de facto group of sister they’d like to assimilate with, sororities likewise take part in the time-honored tradition of putting out sorority recruitment videos.

Sorority recruitment videos tend to have varied levels of effectiveness. There’s this one for Arizona State University’s Alpha Phi, which basically promises living out a music video fantasy life complete with helicopter rides over the Grand Canyon if you join their sorority. And then there’s the above video, which comes to us from the The University of Texas at Austin’s Alpha Delta Pi. This video is less effective.

In Alpha Delta Pi’s video, three dead-behind-the-eyes sorority girls announce, “We’ve been waiting for you all summer and we’re so glad you’re finally here!” before opening the front door to a terrifying horde of screaming, chanting, clapping girls. I’m convinced if you watch the thing three times you’ll see them behind you every time you look into a mirror for the rest of your life.

Not surprisingly, many on Twitter had a similar reaction, after the video went viral shortly after being uploaded on Wednesday, with people expressing shock, horror, and more horror:
