This Is Terrifying: Zombie Otter Holds A Fast Food Restaurant Hostage In Norway

Last week at Skippy’s Fast Food in Ålesund, Norway, a feral otter terrorized customers after it came lumbering into the restaurant “breathing heavily” with injuries sustained to its face and body. Previously, we brought you photos of an otter attacking and eating an alligator, so I have no choice but to assume we’re in the early stages of a zombie otter apocalypse. Calling it! From the Independent:

The otter was bleeding from a large gash on its leg and wounds to its face that are now believed to have been caused by an unfortunate encounter with boat propellers.

Panicked owner Mohamed Rashed was so scared by its presence he rang police to report that a “strange” animal had broken into the premises, before evacuating customers.

Mr Rashed insisted he has lived in Norway for 16 years but has “never experienced anything like that”.

To be fair, I think most people who have lived anywhere for any amount of time have never experienced anything like an otter that inexplicably survives life-threatening injuries to go on and terrorize an entire restaurant. Zombie otter also had enough moxie left in it to attack a wildlife officer.

But local wildlife officer Håkan Sunde sustained the most serious (and only) injuries from the ordeal – a bite on his finger when the animal lunged and “made its mark.”

“I tried first to coax it into the cage, without much luck,” Mr Sunde explained.

“Then I chose to grab its neck with my hands, and that was when it saw its chance to ‘make its mark’, so to speak. Now I’m heading to the doctor to get a tetanus injection.”

If by “tetanus shot” I seriously hope he means “anti-otter zombie serum,” because for all we know it could already be 28 Hours Later over there. It makes this video not seem so cute now, does it?
