Kelly Kerrigan is a mixed media artist from Nashville, Tennessee who specializes in painting “forest creatures intermingling with Pop Culture” and making “tramp lamps” from ladies’ undergarments. Wait, lamps out of women’s frilly underthings? We have so much in common! Oh, sure, it’s weird when a guy does it. Whatever, you guys.
But we’re not here to talk about the tramp lamps — we’re here for the cool pop culture art. After her husband’s passing, Kerrigan has helped support herself and her son with her passion for art. Thirty-eight paintings we liked are included in the gallery here, with pop culture references ranging from old school rap, Star Wars, Back to The Future and other ’80s movies, and more Star Wars, all of it mashed up with the imagery of botanical studies and pastoral landscapes.
