The Cryoscope: Figure Out the Temperature By…Feel?

Ever since Apple turned “haptic” into a buzzword, we always feel vaguely ill seeing something called “haptic”. You can touch it and it does something! Just like most things we own! Hooray!

But the Cryoscope A) actually uses the term “haptic” properly, and B) is actually pretty neat.

It’s essentially an aluminum cube with a heat pump stuffed in it and an LED on the bottom that tells you just how cold or hot the temperature is going to be. Want to know what the forecast feels like? Touch the cube. It’ll tell you how the temperature actually feels. It’s even designed to add in factors like wind chill and the conductivity of the cube.
