Enough New 'Dark Knight Rises' Stuff To Fill A Batcave

Warner released a cornucopia of new pictures, TV spots, and interviews regarding The Dark Knight Rises opening July 20th. That’s almost eight weeks away, a long time to figure out the backstory on that photo of Anne Hathaway in handcuffs after the jump. Oh, yeah, did you know Anne Hathaway is going to be in handcuffs? Well, she is. Get to work, fanfic writers.
Christopher Nolan, script co-writer Jonah Nolan, and Christian Bale were interviewed for the current issue of Empire. One of the things Empire was trying to suss out is if those rumors about Batman possibly dying (tagline: “The Legend Ends”) were true. Skip to the next paragraph if you don’t want any potential spoilers. While both Nolan’s made statements that seemed pessimistic, Bale’s answer hinted at the possibility of a returning for a fourth movie. Christopher Nolan referred to the third film as “the ending of the guy’s story” and Jonah Nolan said, “It’s the right way to end it – to blow the whole thing up!” On the other hand, Christian Bale told Empire, “I think it’s going out at the right time. But…if Chris came to me with a script and said, ‘You know what? There is another story’ then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work.” We would watch the hell out of a fourth movie. I doubt we’ll get one, but we’ll settle for more pictures of Catwoman instead, I guess.
Three new TV spots are below, and I love the banter between Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox in the first one. We also have several stills scanned from the newest issue of Empire Magazine and some new banners, including the banner above where Catwoman is doing an impersonation of Slim Pickens at the end of Dr. Strangelove. Or at least that’s what I assume is going on there.
