The iPod Shuffle – Musiq Soulchild’s “Lullaby”

A new album from Musiq and/or Anthony Hamilton would be welcomed with open arms from yours truly in 2013. Truth be told, Musiq ranks as one of the most criminally underrated artists of my generation; one capable of spinning awesome ballads with the ability to hold significance years following their original release. In other words, a lost art in a great majority of today’s vocalists.

Take “Lullaby” for example, from 2008’s Luvanmusiq – one of his finer, yet least discussed cuts when catalog-defining records are mentioned. The melody is intoxicating. The lyrics are innocent, yet firm. The song is perfect to two-step to with your lady during a random holiday party. With all the music commanding she “pop that pussy for a real n*gga” – which is perfectly acceptable in some situations – “Lullaby” is grown folks music. And you need that in your life every now and then.
