The #WastingHisTime Hashtag Explains The Harsh Truths Of Dating

The internet turned ice cold when a new hashtag emerged to expose the dreadful ways that couples treat each other. Let’s be a little more honest and say this trend is based upon a common complaint in relationships. The #WastingHisTime2016 hashtag lit up Twitter, and the results are brutal. Do men really do this stuff to women? Sometimes. Do women really feel this vengeful about their jilted status? Perhaps.

The predominant tweet appears to involve a woman pretending to date one dude, but cruelly visiting another.

This behavior, while a joke, seems borderline sadistic and definitely not in the interests of a relationship. One male Twitter user, Trenchboy Mar, understands the hashtag’s implications and explained:

“I don’t think most guys get the fact that #WasteHisTime2016 is a satirical parallel to instances where men lead women for long periods of time, bearing false pretenses that they want a long term relationship with said female, ‘connecting’ with her, and getting to know her/become a daily part of life, then ditch said female after the male gets what he wanted.”

So, the moral here is that dudes often waste women’s time, and turning the stereotype around can be fun to imagine (especially for women who’ve endured the downside). Men who don’t understand will receive this reaction face in return.

Some guys came out swinging with their thoughts on this meme.

A variety of hashtag responses are definitely mean but somewhat amusing.
