These Two News Anchors Have One Of The Geekiest Commercial Break Handshakes You’ve Ever Seen

WGN-TV anchors Robert Jordan and Jackie Bange have quite possibly the most elaborate and most geeky handshake I’ve ever seen. And it’s nothing short of awesome.

The two Chicago broadcasters, who have been working side by side for 20 years, have performed the handshake between commercial breaks since the early 2000s. Filled with amusing, quirky gestures, as well ones related to specific news events, the whole thing has grown to be so long that it now takes two full commercial breaks to complete. Yeah, that’s about four minutes.

Local news gigs don’t always look exciting to us outsiders and so many anchors these days seem to make headlines for stuff like dramatically quitting on-air or inadvertently showing X-rated material, so it’s good to see Jordan and Bange actually having a little fun with their jobs. (Also, is it just me or does ‘Jordan & Bange’ have a nice ring to it?)

And for kicks, check out the handshake at “warp speed”!
