Tinder Plus Requires Anyone 30 Or Older To Pay More, Because Old People Are Gross

Tinder just announced Tinder Plus, a premium version of the smartphone app-based hookup, erm, dating service. The two additions touted by the press release are “Passport” and “Rewind,” premium features meant to enhance the experience of Tinder users willing to pay a little extra. For those who still want to “meet up” while abroad:

Passport lets you change your location to connect with people anywhere around the world. It’s like teleporting to a different location. Search by city or drop a pin on the map and you can begin swiping, matching and chatting with Tinder users in a destination of your choice. Navigate between your current location and new destinations. Passport creates real, one-on-one connections with people across the globe. Whether you’re planning vacations and business trips or simply expanding your social network, with Passport, you’re swiping before you arrive. (Via Tinder)

Rewind, meanwhile, let’s you do pretty much what it sounds like — turn back time, but with potential hookups. Erm, dates:

If you accidentally swiped left on someone you want to get to know, they’re no longer lost in the Tindersphere forever. Now you can get him/her back with the touch of a button. (Via Tinder)

So aside from the “Why are you using Tinder?” argument, what’s the catch with Tinder Plus? It’s a premium version of the dating app, and therefore requires users to pay up.

If you’re between 18 and 29 in the United States, Tinder Plus will cost you $9.99. Once you hit the big 3-0, however, you’ll have to pay $19.99, Tinder rep Rosette Pambakian told The Huffington Post.

In the United Kingdom, the cutoff age is even younger, she added: If you’re over 28, Tinder Plus will cost you £14.99, up from £3.99 for users ages 18-27. (Via Huffington Post)

It sort of makes sense, being a premium service and all. Then again, those ready to meet people and date could just go outside. I hear it’s nice out there.
