Want a Blade Anime? Too Bad, You Get One Anyway

OK, show of hands, was anybody actually demanding that Marvel try to beat some more cash out of this dead horse?

It is a shame how terribly mismanaged the Blade franchise has been; the first film was a great action movie and could have become something special in sequels. Then Guillermo Del Toro phoned in the second installment and Goyer turned the third into a mess. Now, we’ve got this.

To be fair, it’s part of a larger initiative that’s actually pretty good, if you’ve been catching it on G4, and at least Marvel was smart enough to get Madhouse to do it and to mostly get out of the way. But still, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Especially since the Fantastic Four are really the ideal property to make an anime out of.

Japanese teaser under the jump.
