Fans of Beauty and the Beast know that all Gaston really wants is to get married and make all of Belle’s dreams come true. He’s just very bad at communication, caring about people other than himself, and dealing with the fact that women get to make their own decisions (whether that means falling in love with a horrifying mix of man and beast or not). And even though it’s well-known that Belle and her prince are now happily married forever, Gaston still can’t help wandering around Disney parks and properties hoping that someone, someday will finally say yes to his modest proposal of marriage.
Well, his dream’s come true.
In the video above, you can see a little girl dressed as Belle–her name’s really Daisy–coming up to meet the man that got her father imprisoned and her boyfriend almost killed. But unlike most Belles, who I assume just tell the guy off, Daisy was ready to hear him out. And when he asked if she’d like to marry him, Daisy couldn’t help but say yes, which was totally the right thing to do. Why? Because as Hello Giggles points out, not only did it net her applause from the crowd but an extended encounter with the Disney villain, which included not only a honeymoon stroll together but a delightful snack of cinnamon buns. Considering my honeymoon consisted of gently inviting my husband to leave me alone because “we’re supposed to be on vacation and no one gets up at 6am on vacation, you monster,” it’s safe to say that Daisy’s the real winner here.
But that wasn’t all. The man playing Gaston was so into the whole thing that he even came back to see Daisy later, bringing her a flower and inviting her on another beautiful stroll around the park. Every day I wake up and promise myself that I won’t be jealous of children. Watching these videos, unfortunately, is a reminder that today won’t be the day. Real happy for Daisy, but I can’t help but feel like this angry woman on Splash Mountain right now.
