There’s a new strain of marijuana on the market, and it’s spooked the NYPD so much that Commissioner William Bratton felt compelled to have a press conference about it.

Known as K2, this synthetic version can give them superhuman strength and immunity from pain, Bratton said, according to the New York Daily News. To prove his point, he showed two videos of New Yorkers on K2. In the first one, a man crouches down on all fours naked, while howling in front of a van. The second shows another man busting through a wooden fence.

Bratton emphasized how difficult it would be for police to apprehend people under the influence of K2, pointing specifically to the videotape of the naked man: ” ‘And the idea of trying to wrestle with a naked person makes it even more difficult.’ ”

It’s against New York State’s health code to sell K2, yet some bodegas still offer it from behind the counter for about $5 a bag, or even less for a larger amount. Bratton says that K2 looks like ordinary marijuana but is laced with chemicals that makes it dangerous to individuals and passersby.

This summer, the NYPD has confiscated 10,900 bags of the stuff, and are continuing to crack down, as indicated by the press conference.
