WebsterX – “Desperate Youth” Video

WebsterX describes himself as “experimental,” and after listening to Desperate Youth, the self-assessment seems right. “Experimental” is a pretty great adjective from where I’m sitting, too. There’s a lot going on here from bars that are worth a damn to lush, complex beats handing the listener off from one track to the next.

Actual themes persist throughout as well. “I Grew Up On Hip-Hop” is a real highlight: equal parts an ode to early ’90s-era underground rap and an emulation of the style. That’s, like, a double entendre. Or something. Right?

Regardless, take a gander at what the Milwaukee emcee has going. “Hip-Hop,” “Iron Lung” and the title track are all good places to start, the latter of which has some nice visuals.
