William Fichtner Reveals His Role In 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'

If the janky, sleep-deprivation-influenced photoshop above didn’t already give it away, William Fichtner told Huffington Post Canada who he’s playing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

What are you doing in “Ninja Turtles”?
I play Shredder. It is cool. It’s one of those things that came along where I thought, “Really? Let me think about this for a minute.” [Laughs] Then I was like, “Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey.” I’m very glad that it worked out, I’m really glad that I’m doing it. [HuffPo via CBM]

This news comes one month after we learned he’d play “a lead with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology.” I like William Fichtner’s acting a lot, but Shredder? What the hell? First Michael Bay and Jonathan Liebsman toyed with making the Turtles aliens and renaming it just Ninja Turtles, then they gave The Foot guns (ninjas with guns?), and then they cast white guys as both Shredder and Splinter? Did they at least try to get Ken Watanabe on the phone?

We can only hope Michael Bay puts down the huff bag full of spraypaint when making further TMNT decisions, then immediately picks the huff bag full of spraypaint back up and makes Bad Boys 3.
